Helias volleyball tops Blair Oaks for another district title

LAKE OZARK, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders are headed to the Class 3 state tournament for a fourth consecutive season.

The Lady Crusaders, the No. 1 seed in the Class 3 District 10 Tournament, swept second-seeded Blair Oaks 25-16, 25-13 on Tuesday to win their fourth straight district title.

Hannah Borchelt led Helias with 10 kills and eight service points, while Regan Bruns finished with eight kills and eight service points and Ellie Rockers added eight kills. Jada Oldham and Riley Bernskoetter had 18 and 15 assists, respectively, and Bradi Berhorst finished with nine digs and 11 service points.

Blair Oaks, which finished the season with a 24-4 record, was led by Lanie Lowry, who had team-highs of six kills and four blocks. Lauren Casey had four kills, Ali Juergensmeyer finished with 14 assists and Maddie Nolph and Tori Martin added four and two digs, respectively.

In Tuesday's first semifinal, Helias defeated School of the Osage 25-14, 25-14.

Bruns had a team-high six kills, while Callie Henson, Erin Wyrick, Rockers and Korie Otto each had four kills. Oldham finished with 13 assists and 10 service points, Bernskoetter added 11 assists and Berhorst tallied five digs and seven service points.

In the other semifinal, Blair Oaks defeated Bolivar 25-22, 25-18.

Casey and Lowry finished with eight and seven kills, respectively. Juergensmeyer had 19 assists and Martin finished with nine digs.

Helias (29-4-1) advances to the Class 3 sectional round and will face the District 12 champion Saturday. That district tournament concludes today with semifinal matches and the championship, and the winner will host the Lady Crusaders.

Top-seeded Aurora (27-3-2) faces Cassville (18-11-2), while No. 2 Mount Vernon (14-15-1) takes on Nevada (16-14-1) in the other District 12 semifinal.
