Forty-eight hours of high school basketball is returning to Columbia College.
The 10th annual Norm Stewart Classic will feature 24 basketball games spanning 48 hours from Dec. 1-3 at the Arena of Southwell Complex. Last year's event was the first high school basketball event to cover 48 consecutive hours.
This year's event will also feature a handful of local teams.
The Jefferson City Lady Jays will face St. Joseph's Academy in the third of 24 games at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.
Both Helias teams are slated to play toward the end of the Classic on Sunday, Dec. 3. The Lady Crusaders will take on Blue Springs at 10 a.m., followed by the Crusaders against Oak Grove at noon.
California will play a doubleheader against Mexico on Dec. 3. The Lady Pintos face the Lady Bulldogs at 4 a.m., followed by the boys contest at 6 a.m.
The St. Elizabeth boys tip off against Chilhowee at 2 a.m. Dec. 3. The Jamestown boys will face Laquey following the California-Mexico doubleheader at 8 a.m.
This year's Classic features one out-of-state team, the Regina Lady Regals from Iowa City, Iowa. A total of 47 teams will participate, with the Rock Bridge girls playing the first game of the Classic against Hazelwood Central (6 p.m. Dec. 1) and the last game against Vianney (4 p.m. Dec. 3).
All 24 games will be broadcast online by ESPN3.
