Henke steps down after three seasons with Blair Oaks baseball

WARDSVILLE - The Blair Oaks Falcon baseball team will have a new head coach for the 2018 season.

Travis Henke, who served the past three seasons as the Falcons' head coach, resigned Friday afternoon. The announcement was made in a press release from the Blair Oaks school district.

According to the release, Henke recently received a promotion at his place of full-time employment, which led to his decision to step down as baseball coach. Henke informed Blair Oaks baseball players of his resignation toward the end of the school day Friday.

"Our baseball program has flourished under his leadership and will continue to do so in the years to come," Blair Oaks said in the press release. "The student-athletes of Blair Oaks will start a new chapter in their baseball history next season with a solid foundation for years to come. The Blair Oaks family wishes Travis Henke the best."

In three seasons, Henke compiled a 56-33 record at Blair Oaks. The Falcons won the Class 3 District 9 championship in 2016 and won the Tri-County Conference championship and were district runner-up this past season.
