LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays dropped a 5-0 decision Saturday to Springfield Central in the Class 2 quarterfinals.
Earlier Saturday, the Lady Jays defeated Raymore-Peculiar 5-1 in the sectionals. Doubles winners were Erica Dunn and Akhi Donthireddy (8-0), and Bailey Higgins and Sudhi Kumar (8-6). Falling in doubles were Susan Meyer and Bailey Patrick (4-8).
Singles winners were Dunn (6-3, 6-2), Donthireddy (6-2, 6-3) and Patrick (7-6, 6-0).
In the Springfield Central match, losing in doubles were Meyer and Patrick (0-8), Dunn and Donthireddy (3-8), and Higgins and Kumar (4-8). Falling in singles were Madelyn Becker (1-6, 0-6) and Higgins (3-6, 0-6).
The Lady Jays finish 14-10 on the season.
Dunn and Higgins will compete in the state doubles tournament Friday in Springfield.
