Abby Dowden and Catherine Conley extended their own school record Tuesday night.
The Helias doubles pairing won their 21st doubles match of the season, topping Lily Gardner and Andrea Leigh of Logan-Rogersville in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 at the Crusader Athletic Complex to advance to the Class 1 state tournament.
Helias hosted the Class 1 Sectional 5 round Tuesday. Three of the four matches - two singles, two doubles - were completed before rain halted play. The fourth match will be completed today in Springfield.
With the win, Dowden and Conley (21-4) will compete in the doubles portion of the Class 1 state tournament Oct. 13-14 at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
