Blair Oaks, Helias, Calvary and Vienna have multiple all-state softball selections

The Blair Oaks softball team had just one all-state player on last year's Class 2 state runner-up team.

The Lady Falcons garnered more attention on this year's all-state squad.

Blair Oaks had five players named to the 2017 Class 2 all-state team, announced by the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Helias, Calvary Lutheran and Vienna each had two all-state players named, while Fatima, Eugene and School of the Osage each had one all-stater.

Blair Oaks, which repeated as state runner-up, placed three players on the Class 2 all-state first team: junior pitcher Makenna Kliethermes, junior third baseman Kayla Jones and senior right fielder Hannah Schroeder.

Senior catcher Sydney Wilde and junior center fielder Brooke Boessen were named to the second team.

Fatima junior second baseman Ally Bonnot and Eugene sophomore shortstop Jodi Polly were also honored on the Class 2 second team.

In Class 3, Helias sophomore Lauren Howell was one of five pitchers selected to the all-state first team. Lady Crusader sophomore Rylee Kolb was one of five outfielders picked for the second team.

School of the Osage junior catcher Payton Good was also tabbed on the Class 3 second team.

Calvary Lutheran was honored with its first all-state softball player in program history. Two, as a matter of fact.

Sophomore Abbie Klatt was one of eight players selected as an infielder to the Class 1 first team, while senior catcher Amanda Braun was named to the second team.

Vienna also had two all-state honorees. Junior pitcher Jordyn Steffen and senior outfielder Kara Harker were both selected to the Class 1 second team.

The all-state teams are determined by a committee comprised of coaches from each class. Any all-region player is eligible to be named all-state.

The Jefferson City Lady Jays had a trio of players selected to the Class 4 Region 3 team. Junior Mychael Jett was picked as a second-team pitcher, while freshman Kara Daly and senior Alexis Gilland were each named to the second team as infielders.

Helias junior Abbi Pringer was selected as a first-team infielder to the Class 3 Region 3 team. School of the Osage senior outfielder Arianna Neal made the all-region first team as an outfielder, while senior pitcher Skyler Smith and junior infielder Gracie Faulkner made the second team.

Several area players were selected to the Class 2 Region 3 team.

In addition to Blair Oaks' five all-state players, senior Macey Stockman was selected to the all-region second team as an infielder.

Fatima senior pitcher Macy Berhorst, junior infielder Morgan Laux and freshman designated player Karli Struemph were placed on the all-region first team. Senior catcher Macy Buscher and senior outfielder Katelyn Plassmeyer made the second team.

Eugene junior Paige Rademann made the all-region first team as a pitcher. Senior Rachael Surface (catcher), sophomore Hannah Rader (infielder), senior Maddy Lepper (outfielder) and sophomore Isabelle Brenneke (utility) were placed on the second team for the Lady Eagles.

Linn senior catcher Hailey McKim made the all-region first team. Junior pitcher Morgan Senevey and freshman infielder Lindsey Brandt were honored on the second team for the Lady Wildcats.

New Bloomfield senior Madi Craighead (infielder) and freshman Sarah Abbott (pitcher) were placed on the all-region second team.

Calvary Lutheran placed four players on the Class 1 Region 2 team.

Joining Braun and Klatt on the all-region first team was junior pitcher Presley Welch. Sophomore outfielder Samantha Matthews made the second team.

Senior Courtney Falter (infielder) and senior Taylour Schoene (outfielder) made the all-region first team for Vienna. Seniors Bailey Wilkinson (catcher) and Corlis Kloeppel (infielder) were honored on the second team.

The all-region teams are also selected by a committee of coaches.
