RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Nick Thompson hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning Thursday to cap off an 11-0 win against Tipton.
The Indians got on the scoreboard in the first inning with Tyler Voss' two-run shot. Russellville added four runs in the second inning and five in the sixth.
Thompson and Mason Stewart finished with two hits. Stewart also scored twice. Matt Miller added a hit and two RBI.
Cory Minor was the winning pitcher, lasting 42/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked three while not surrendering a hit. Voss threw 11/3 innings, allowing only one hit with three strikeouts and a walk. Minor added a hit and an RBI at the plate.
Russellville (12-9) begins postseason play Monday at Harrisburg. The Indians are the No. 1 seed in the Class 2 District 7 tournament and will play either New Franklin or Calvary Lutheran at 5 p.m. Monday in the semifinals.
No. 3 seed New Bloomfield will take on No. 6 seed Fayette at noon Saturday with the winner playing at 7:30 p.m. Monday against No. 2 seed Harrisburg.
Russellville won Thursday's three-inning JV game 2-0 to finish the season 10-5.
Riley Marcum struck out eight and walked one in three hitless innings.
