Helias wins sectional title in boys golf

The Helias Crusaders will send five golfers to state this season after winning Monday's Class 3 Sectional 3 Tournament at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

Helias shot a team score of 311, followed by Logan-Rogersville at 319.

Jack Rundle won the individual title at sectionals, shooting a 2-over 74 to lead the Crusaders.

All five Helias golfers finished in the top 15. Dalton Roark tied for fourth with a 78, Cole Higgins tied for seventh with a 79, Ethan Johnson finished 11th with an 80 and Curtis Campbell shot an 83 to tie for 14th place.

The Class 3 state championships will be held next Monday and Tuesday at Sedalia Country Club.

School of the Osage finished sixth in the team standings with a 376, while Eldon finished with a 377 to take seventh place. Each team qualified one golfer for state.

Eldon's Spencer Rogers tied for 18th place with an 85 and Jacob Krantz of School of the Osage tied for 22nd with an 87.

Southern Boone's Brayden Watts is also a state qualifier, finishing second out of 53 golfers with a 76.
