Prep Baseball: Blair Oaks wins pair

CENTRALIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons started Saturday with a narrow 2-1 win against the Centralia Panthers, then finished the day with a blowout 14-3 victory against the Kirksville Tigers.

Ryan Paschal broke a 1-all tie against Centralia in the top of the seventh with a two-out RBI single to score Nolan Hair.

Colton Hoelscher threw 11/3 innings of relief to get the win, finishing with one strikeout. Tyler Swehla pitched the first 52/3 innings, scattering three hits and allowing one unearned run whilte striking out 10 batters.

Brenden Brown went 2-for-3 for the Falcons, hitting an RBI single in the second inning to give Blair Oaks a 1-0 lead.

In the second game against Kirksville, Blair Oaks scored six runs in each of the third and fourth innings to win by run rule, sending 11 batters to the plate in each of those innings.

Garrett Welschmeyer went 2-for-2 and hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. The blast was his fourth homer of the season.

Paschal was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI and Thomas Verslues added two singles and two RBI. Jason Rackers finished with three RBI and two runs scored.

Ethan Rackers picked up the complete-game victory. He struck out seven and walked three while allowing just two hits in five innings.

Blair Oaks (16-8) wraps up the regular season Monday at California with a chance to win the Tri-County Conference outright.
