Helias sweeps Battle, St. Dominic in tennis

The Helias Crusaders won a pair of matches Tuesday at Washington Park, sweeping the Battle Spartans 9-0 followed by a 6-3 win against the St. Dominic Crusaders.

Winning singles matches against Battle for Helias were Dalton Buschjost (8-1), Tristan Grawe (8-0), Cance Pool (8-0) and Seth Pezley (8-0). Battle only had four players and forfeited the Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches.

In doubles, Buschjost and Grawe won 8-0, while Pool and Jordan Roling won 8-1. The Spartans forfeited the No. 3 doubles match as well.

In the second contest of the evening against St. Dominic, Helias won four singles matches. Picking up wins for Helias were Grawe (6-4, 6-3), Pezley (6-4, 6-4), Roling (6-0, 6-1) and Jacob Cowley (7-5, 6-4).

Buschjost lost his first set 0-6, then won the second 7-6 with an 8-6 tiebreaker. In the tiebreaking set, he lost 8-10. Pool also lost his singles match 5-7, 3-6.

Pool and Roling won their doubles match 8-6 and Pezley and Cowley won 8-4. Buschjost and Grawe suffered a 6-8 defeat.

Helias (3-0) will play Thursday at Mexico against Missouri Military Academy.
