Paschal hurls gem for Falcons

CAMDENTON, Mo. - Ryan Paschal and the Blair Oaks Falcons had a near-flawless start to the baseball season Saturday.

The Blair Oaks senior pitched a no-hitter and struck out nine batters, leading the Falcons to an 11-0 win against the Eugene Eagles.

Paschal allowed just one walk in five innings.

Blair Oaks scored five runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth.

Ethan Rackers and Paschal each collected two hits for the Falcons. Mason Gipe added a bases-clearing double and Thomas Verslues had two RBI.

Maxon Kirkweg struck out five batters in 3 1/3 innings for Eugene.

Blair Oaks also picked up a 9-5 win against Camdenton in the third game of Saturday's tripleheader.

The Falcons trailed 5-4 after Camdenton scored four runs in the fifth inning. Blair Oaks responded with a three-run sixth inning and two more insurance runs in the seventh.

Jason Rackers struck out nine batters in 4 2/3 innings for the Falcons. He also had two hits and an RBI at the plate.

Nolan Hair had two hits and two RBI, Garrett Welschmeyer added two hits and Paschal drove in a pair of runs.

In the first game Saturday, Camdenton defeated Eugene 15-2 in five innings.

Kirkweg had an RBI double and Jacob Adrian and Caleb Darnel each had a single.

Blair Oaks (2-0) will play Monday at New Bloomfield. Eugene (0-2) hosts California on Monday.
