Jacob Weirich showed off his arm, Gaven Strobel showed off his bat, and Brandon Williams showed off his arm and bat during Friday night's Jamboree at Vivion Field.

Weirich struck out the side in his only inning during a 4-1 win against Blair Oaks. Williams also pitched a scoreless inning in that game, striking out two. Grant Wood also took the mound, allowing a run on two hits with a strikeout.

"I thought Brandon threw well," Jays coach Brian Ash said. " For the most part, I thought Grant even threw well."

The Jays also picked up a 1-0 win against Fatima, with the lone run being a solo homer to left field by Williams.

Jefferson City closed out the night with an 8-2 loss to Helias.

"Other than battling the cold here, I thought they were pretty focused for the most part," Ash said. " We're not really looking for wins, we're just looking to moving kids around. It's more for just getting out guys more live arm looks at the plate and obviously our pitchers throwing against someone that's actually in the batters' box."

Strobel drove in the Jays' lone runs against the Crusaders with a two-run home run.

Against the Falcons, the Jays went scoreless in the first inning before plating two in each of the next two innings.

"We had some guys step up with the big hits and baserunning and I thought our pitchers did a really good job," Ash said.

The Jays got three hits in each of their first two games of the night.

Two errors against Fatima allowed the Comets to load the bases, but the Jays got out of the jam.

"I feel like we're getting some looks at everybody to see what they can do defensively, on the bases and just kind of overall where our arms are at," Ash said.

The Jays will begin their season on the road March 18 as they take on Fatima and Borgia at Borgia.
