STURGEON, Mo. - For the second straight year, the Chamois Pirates met the Glasgow Yellowjackets in the Class 1 sectionals.

For the second straight year, Glasgow exploited the inside game with a significant height advantage.

The duo of Kennedy Davis and Adam Monnig, Glasgow's 6-foot-4 senior forwards, combined to score 29 points and grab 21 rebounds Tuesday night to help the Yellowjackets to a 46-34 win against the Pirates in the Class 1 sectional round.

"We tried to pack it in more," Chamois coach Kyle Burkett said. "They were really good at throwing it over the top. We had a little bit of a lack of effort in the first half. I thought we did a better job of holding our own in the second.

"But against good teams, you can't show up and play a good second half and expect to beat them."

In last year's 44-27 sectional win against Chamois, Davis and Monnig each posted double-doubles, combining for 31 points and 26 rebounds.

And like last year, Chamois struggled shooting the ball Tuesday, finishing just 27 percent from the floor and 14 percent from 3-point range.

"There wasn't a whole lot of difference," Burkett said. "We knew what they were going to do. They knew what we were going to do. They were just a little bit better at it tonight."

Glasgow, ranked No. 5 in Class 1, led 11-6 after one quarter and used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to lead by double digits.

The Yellowjackets didn't commit their first turnover until the final seconds of the second quarter. Aaron Brandt jumped a screen, got the steal and scored an easy layup with :03 left to cut Glasgow's lead to 24-13 at halftime.

Glasgow pulled ahead 30-15 midway through the third quarter. Burkett called a timeout and told his team to quit playing on its heels, waiting for something to happened.

The players responded, attacking the inside on their next two possessions. Kyle Bockting and Anthony Keilholz each worked the ball inside and scored to make it 30-19 with 2:32 left in the third quarter.

"At that point in time in the game, it's 'go time,'" Burkett said. "There's no sitting back. You can't be as patient anymore."

Chamois missed its first 11 attempts from 3-point range. Logan Bockting got the first 3 to fall late in the third quarter, but Monnig answered with a rare 3-pointer to give Glasgow a 35-22 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Pirates cut the lead to 10 points on four occasions in the final quarter but couldn't get any closer.

Brandt led the Pirates with 15 points but on just 6-of-26 shooting. He also had 11 rebounds. The Chamois junior was guarded by Glasgow's Hayden Hackman, who played in last year's game with a fractured fibula.

"Hayden is such a versatile defender," Glasgow coach Mick Cropp said. "He's strong enough to guard a kid like Brandt who can go inside, and he's fast enough and athletic enough to guard a kid like Brandt who can play outside."

Davis had a double-double for Glasgow with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Monnig scored a game-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and added eight boards.

Glasgow (26-3), which advanced past the sectional round for a third straight season, will play Meadville (25-4) in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Saturday in Salisbury.

Chamois finishes the season with a 20-9 record.

"This is probably one of the better teams I've coached at Chamois," Burkett said. " They've been playing since they were freshmen, and their freshman year they lost 20 games.

"They've seen the hard times and they turned it around. I'm very proud of them for that."
