Helias loses to Priory in tourney

O'FALLON - A comeback attempt fell short Wednesday for the Helias Crusaders as they fell 63-59 to the Priory Rebels in the semifinals of the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament.

Priory led 14-8 after the first quarter, 34-24 at halftime and pushed it to 50-38 after three quarters. Helias outscored Priory 21-13 in the final eight minutes.

Landon Harrison led the Crusaders with 23 points. Nick Brandt scored 13 points while Alex Buschjost added 11.

Helias (14-3) will face Troy at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the third-place game.

In the JV game, Helias won 44-37.

Michael Snyder and Jake VanLoo scored 11 and 10, respectively, for Helias.

The JV team is 9-1 and will play Sikeston on Friday in the championship game, which will follow the varsity contest.
