COLUMBIA - The Jefferson City Jays top the 20-team field after the opening day of the Hickman Wrestling Tournament.
The Jays ended Friday with 61 team points. Northwest was second with 59, while Parkway South ws third with 37.5.
Jefferson City lost just six matches Friday and 17 of its 26 victories came via a pin.
Will Kuster at 120 pounds (2-0), Peter Kuster at 138 (2-0), Dennis Barnes at 160 (2-0), Tyler Bise at 170 (2-0) and Brandon Backues at 220 (2-1)and Davonta Finney at 285 (2-0) all posted two wins by pin.
Sam Rackers was 3-0 at 132 for the Jays. Charlie Kusick at 126 was 2-0, while Reece Neighbors at 152 and Ian Cote at 182 were both 2-1.
The tournament will conclude today.
