JOPLIN - The Jefferson City Jays dropped a 91-70 decision Thursday to the Glendale Falcons in the opening round of the Kaminsky Classic.
Glendale used an 18-2 run in the first quarter to take a 27-11 lead heading into the second quarter. The Falcons led 49-38 at the half.
Kamari Balton of the Jays opened the second half with a layup to cut the deficit to nine, but the Falcons went on a 16-2 run to open a 64-44 advantage. Glendale led 76-55 after three quarters.
Hudson Nilges had three 3-pointers and totaled a team-high 15 points for the Jays. DaMani Jarrett added 13, while Ben Folz chipped in with 11 for Jefferson City.
Monty Johal finished with a game-high 34 points for Glendale (7-5). Jordan Walton and Jaxon Davis added 20 points each for the Falcons.
Jefferson City (4-6) will take on Webb City (3-3) in the loser's bracket semifinals today. Webb City dropped a 66-53 decision to Francis Howell in Thursday's second opening-round contest
