Boys Basketball: Glasgow 58, St. Elizabeth 52

BUNCETON, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Hornets came close to erasing a double-digit halftime deficit, but the Glasgow Yellowjackets were able to hold on long enough to win 58-52 on Saturday in the Class 1 District 9 Tournament championship game.

Glasgow held a narrow 13-12 lead after one quarter, then extended their advantage to 28-17 by halftime.

St. Elizabeth trailed 36-28 after three quarters. The Hornets trailed by 10 points by less than two minutes to play and cut Glasgow's lead to 51-46 with 1:23 to play, following a 3-point play from Dakota Kemna.

St. Elizabeth had a chance to trim the lead to single digits but couldn't get enough shots to fall down the stretch, despite Glasgow shooting just 13-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Mason Kemna led St. Elizabeth with 15 points, making four 3-pointers. Zach Voss added 11 points and Ross Struemph finished with 10 points.

Hayden Hackman led Glasgow with a game-high 21 points. Adam Monnig finished with 16 points and Kennedy Davis had 15 points.

St. Elizabeth, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, finishes the season with a 12-15 record.
