COLUMBIA, Mo. - Trenton Dillon of Eldon made program history Saturday night as the first Mustang to ever wrestle for a state title.
Dillon, a junior, squared off with Kellen Ekern of Mexico at 160 pounds in the Class 2 state championships at Mizzou Arena. Dillon finished second, dropping a 10-4 decision.
Dillon trailed 7-1 after one period and 9-2 after two to the defending state champ.
Dillon finishes the season at 54-2.

The Mustangs had two other state medalists.
Sophomore Dawson Brandt finished in fifth place at 170 on Saturday, posting a win by fall in 3:27 against Cassville's Wyatt Goade to finish the season with a 47-13 record.
Brandt was leading 5-1 when he recorded the third-period pin.
In the fourth round of wrestlebacks, Brandt lost 7-4 to Maryville's Matthew Twaddle to drop into the fifth-place match.
Trenton Kidwell lost both his matches Saturday to finish with a 47-14 record and a sixth-place finish at 195.
Kidwell dropped a 6-1 decision to Chance Richards of Moberly in the fourth round of wrestlebacks. He then lost 6-4 against Cameron's Dawson Cox in the fifth-place match.
