The Hickman Kewpies didn't get the ball to Emma Chapman much in the first quarter Thursday and it showed on the scoreboard.
The Kewpies found the junior in the last three quarters. It showed on the scoreboard.
Chapman finished with 28 points as Hickman came back to post a 41-30 victory against the Blue Springs South Jaguars in the opening round of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.
Chapman had just three points in the first quarter as Blue Springs South jumped out to a 13-5 lead. The Jaguars then hit the first basket of the second quarter to push their lead to 10 points with 6:40 remaining in the first half.
But those were the last points of the quarter for Blue Springs South. Hickman didn't light the lamp on the scoreboard in the second quarter either as Chapman tallied all nine of its points as Blue Springs South took a 15-14 advantage into intermission.
Hickman (2-5) scored the first five points of the third quarter to take the lead for good.
Derrian Ford paced Blue Springs South (2-5) with 11 points.
