Prep Wrestling: Blair Oaks JV Tournament

WARDSVILLE -- The Capital City Cavaliers took first place with six individual champions Wednesday at the Blair Oaks JV Tournament.

Capital City was atop the team standings with 175 points. Kirksville was second with 151 points, followed by Jefferson City in third place with 141 points.

Blair Oaks placed ninth with 68 points, California was 11th with 49 points. Other area teams competing were Versailles (12th, 44 points), Southern Boone (15th, 34 points) and Fatima (16th, 26 points).

Parker Jones (4-0 at 132 pounds), John Lewis (4-0 in 132 B bracket), Jacob Weaver (3-0 at 165), Isaak Nelson (3-0 at 175 C bracket), Darius Hendricks (4-0 at 190) and Malachi Childs (3-0 at 285) each took first place for the Cavaliers.

Three of Blair Oaks’ six wrestlers finished first in their respective weight classes: Nolan DeMilia (4-0 at 106), Jacob Canaday (3-0 at 120) and Carson Rustemeyer (4-0 at 215).

Jefferson City also had three individual champions: Tytus Oliver (4-0 at 126), Lucas Waite (4-0 at 138) and Deegan Mitchell (3-0 in the 144 B bracket).

Jesse Schroeder was Fatima’s lone individual champion with a 4-0 record at 157.

Southern Boone’s Blaine Bergthold went 3-0 to take first place at 113.

Shane Bright of Versailles also had a 3-0 record to finish first at 175.
