Wrestling: Jays JV at tournament

VERSAILLES, Mo. - The Jefferson City JV wrestling team had five top-4 finishers Saturday to take eighth place at the Versailles Tournament.

Cameron Cooper had the Jays only individual title, finishing first at 152 pounds with a 5-0 record.

Taking second for Jefferson City were Gabe Zimmerman at 145 and Corey Denny at 170, each finishing with a 4-1 record.

Jacob Koopman (132) and Frank Milton (285) each posted a 3-2 record to place fourth.

Also competing for the Jays were Thomas McCarthy (2-3 at 182), Jon Werdehausen (1-4 at 138), Dawson Prenger (1-4 at 160), Jacob Thornsberry (1-4 at 220) and Albert Naaman (0-4 at 126).

Versailles finished second in its tournament with 178.5 points, only trailing Sullivan's 193.5 points.

Placing first for the Tigers were Gage Tessier at 182 and Michael Trotter at 220. Taking second place were Ben Dornan (113), Payton Lafoy (120), Kooper Wilson (138) and Joe Shady (285).

Eldon's Kaden Dillon won the title at 195 and Isaiah Simmons finished second at 126.

Tipton's Cameron Whisler won the 138 B title with a 5-0 record.
