Eugene boys rout Eldon for 97-56 victory

EUGENE, Mo. - The Eugene Eagles had five players score in double figures, leading to a 97-56 win Friday night against the Eldon Mustangs.

Austin Engelbrecht led the Eagles with 19 points and Zach Bond finished with 16 points. Jarret Magers and Tre Kempker each scored 13 points and Mason Kirkweg also reached double figures with 11 points.

Eugene jumped out to a 29-12 lead after one quarter and was ahead by 23 at halftime, with the score 53-30. The Eagles added 29 more points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 82-47.

Devin Degraffenreid had a team-high 19 points for Eldon and Jordan Metz finished with 12 points.

Eugene (6-1), ranked No. 7 in Class 2, hosts Hallsville on Tuesday. Eldon (0-6) hosts St. James on Tuesday for its home opener.

In Thursday's JV game, Eugene defeated Eldon 62-28. Dyson Sampson led the Eagles with 14 points and Trent Blochberger chipped in 10 points.
