Boys Basketball: Fatima 74, New Bloomfield 71

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - Jacob Crede drained a half-court heave as time expired Tuesday night, giving the Fatima Comets a 74-71 win against the New Bloomfield Wildcats in the Show-Me Conference opener for both teams.

Fatima had the early edge on New Bloomfield, leading 18-12 after one quarter and 36-26 at halftime. The Wildcats cut their deficit in half during the third quarter, trailing the Comets 55-50 as the fourth quarter began.

There was :02.1 left in the game with the score tied at 71, and Fatima still had to go the length of the court. Crede got off his half-court shot just before the buzzer after taking two dribbles.

Sam Groner led the Comets with 18 points, while Brett Werner scored 16 points and Tim Brunnert finished with 15 points. Daniel Holterman also reached double figures, chipping in 13 points.

Jak Kitchens paced the Wildcats with a game-high 26 points. Cole Hazelhorst added 15 points, Jalen Martin finished with 14 points and Kyle Emerson scored 12 points.

Fatima (3-1) plays Friday at Southern Boone. New Bloomfield (4-2) plays Friday at South Callaway.
