Jays JV football win season opener in rout

The Jefferson City Jays opened the JV football season Saturday with a 53-8 victory against the McCluer North Stars at Adkins Stadium.

Devin White had runs of 89 and 62 yards for a touchdown, as well as catching a 25-yard touchdown pass from Adam Millard.

LuRon Johnson had a 31-yard run for a score while Kade Garnett ran 22 yards for a touchdown. Kolby Roettgen returned an interception for a score, while Laine Fischer had a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Ben Folz booted four extra points, while Millard added one.

Jeremy Zayumba recovered a pair of fumbles for Jefferson City, while Connor Hankins had an interception.

Jefferson City (1-0) will host Kirkwood on Saturday.
