Prep Track: Calvary wins CCAA titles

ASHLAND, Mo. - The Calvary Lutheran boys and girls won the team titles at the CCAA conference meet Thursday held at Southern Boone.

The Calvary boys finished with 108 points, four ahead of second-place finisher Jamestown. Prairie Home was third with 40 points, Higbee took fourth with 37 and Bunceton was fifth with three points.

The Calvary girls posted 160 points to win the title, finishing well ahead of Higbee with 116. Jamestown was third with 60, Bunceton took fourth with two points and Prairie Home did not score in the team standings.

The Lions won 12 events at the meet, with Luke Allen sweeping titles in all four of his events. Allen won the long jump (19 feet, 11 inches), the triple jump (42-11), the 100-meter dash (11.92 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (23.89).

Matt Allen picked up wins in three of his four events, taking home titles in the high jump (5-6) and the 300-meter hurdles (50.48). He was also on the Lions' winning 4x100-meter relay - along with Sam Felger, Cal Kolzow and Austin Meisel - that won in 48.90.

Felger, Kolzow, Meisel and Reece Going won the 4x200 (1:38.77) and the 4x400 (3:53.77). Going picked up a win in the 400-meter dash in 52.66, while Kolzow won the 800-meter run in 2:17.25. Austin Engelbrecht finished first in the javelin with a throw of 93-11.

The Lady Lions also won 12 events, sweeping all four relays.

Katy Allen, Andrea Standor, Emma Hohmfeldt and Olivia Bexten in the 4x100 (55.20).

Sarah Johnson, Stanford, Hohmfeldt and Katy Allen in the 4x200 (1:58.83).

Brooke Rollins, Kate Schlichting, Allison Procter and Johnson in the 4x400 (4:59.22).

Johnson, Madeline Wilson, Procter and Hohmfeldt in the 4x800 (11:09.19).

Samantha Gunn was a quadruple-winner for the Lady Lions. She took home titles in the long jump (15-3.5), the triple jump (34-0.5), the 100-meter hurdles (18.53) and the 300-meter hurdles (53.09).

Johnson won the 400-meter dash in 1:07.87 and Hohmfeldt took the title in the 800-meter run in 2:33.80. Bexten finished first in the high jump, clearing 4-0, and Beth Fife took first place in the javelin with a throw of 74-11.

Calvary will compete today at the South Callaway Relays.
