The Jefferson City Jays are ranked No. 1 in Class 5 in Missouri in baseball.

You can add No. 49 in the country to their resume as the Jays claimed that spot in the MaxPreps Computer Baseball Rankings released Monday night.

Jefferson City, coming off a 4-0 performance last Friday and Saturday at the River City Festival in Lawrence, Kan., is the lone Missouri team to be ranked in the top 50.

The rankings expanded from 25 teams to 50 this week to allow for additional recognition for Midwest and Northeast squads. With a record of 31-0, Shawnee, Okla., is ranked No. 1 in the country.

The Jays (18-2) are scheduled to play again today at Lebanon. The varsity game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start.
