COLUMBIA, Mo. - In a battle of state-ranked teams Friday, the Fatima Comets suffered a 5-1 loss to the Hickman Kewpies.
Fatima is ranked No. 7 in Class 3, while Hickman is No. 4 in Class 5.
Hickman scored all five runs in the first three innings. Fatima scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth when Gage Bax drew a bases-loaded walk to score Jonathon Backes.
Backes led the Comets at the plate, finishing 3-for-4.
Tony Bock was the losing pitcher for Fatima, giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings. He also walked two and struck out two.
Hickman also won the JV game 10-0.
Fatima (11-6) plays Monday at Fulton.
