Jays score three runs in fourth to win at Rolla

ROLLA, Mo. - Tyler Bise hit a two-run double in the fourth inning to help lead the Jefferson City Jays to a 5-3 win Wednesday against the Rolla Bulldogs.

Three of the Jays' four hits came in the three-run fourth inning. Bise's double gave the Jays a 5-2 lead. Rolla scored its final run in the fifth. Bise, the No. 9 batter, now has 12 RBI this season.

Peyton Bodenstab and Brandon Williams each had an RBI for Jefferson City. Jacob Weirich and Gunnar See each walked twice. Rolla walked six Jays in the game.

Weirich struck out five and allowed one hit in 12/3 innings to earn his third save of the season.

Kade Franks started the game, striking out four in two innings. He allowed one run on a hit and a walk.

Williams walked a pair and allowed a run and a hit in two innings to earn his first win of the season. Hayden Hirschvogel then pitched 11/3 innings, giving up a run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

All four pitchers kept their count under 46, which will keep them available for Friday's games in Lawrence, Kan.

Jefferson City (14-2) will face Maize (Kan.) at 3:45 p.m. and Lawrence (Kan.) at 8:15 p.m. Friday in the River City Festival. On Saturday, the Jays will take on O'Gorman (S.D.) at 9 a.m. and Blue Valley (Kan.) at 1:30 p.m.

Jefferson City won Wednesday's JV game 9-3.

Jack Shinkle led the Jays' bats with two doubles and three RBI. Joseph Travis and Justin Wood each recorded two hits, while Mason Hansen had a hit and an RBI.

Blake Terry was the winning pitcher for Jefferson City.

The JV team will play Tuesday at Lebanon.
