Two Lady Jays, two Lady Cruaders advance in golf

FULTON - The Jefferson City Lady Jays and the Helias Lady Crusaders each qualified two golfers for sectionals during Monday's Class 2 District 4 tournament held at Tanglewood Golf Course.

Alex Nelson led Helias with a 21-over 93 to finish in a tie for 11th place and receive all-district honors. Reese Hamilton also shot a 97, tying for 16th place, to qualify for sectionals.

For Jefferson City, Sami Swinfard led the Lady Jays with a 97 and Christa Kiesling shot a 101 to finish in 23rd place. Kiesling was the last individual to qualify for sectionals.

Jefferson City finished fifth out of 11 teams in the district standings with a 410. Helias followed in sixth place with a 420.

Rock Bridge won the district title with a 356, finishing three strokes ahead of Hickman. Liberty: Wentzville took third with a 361.

Julia Bower of Rock Bridge won the individual district title with a 3-over 75.

Lily Tharp finished with a 102 for Jefferson City and Shelby Clark carded a 110. Valerie Hurt also shot a 113.

For Helias, Skylar Nelson shot a 111, Natalie Beck finished with a 119 and Claire Kehoe carded a 142.

The Class 2 Sectional 2 tournament will be held next Monday at Woods Fort Golf Course in Troy.
