Helias freshman volleyball team wins Warrenton Tournament

WARRENTON - The Helias Lady Crusaders posted a 5-0 record Saturday to win the Warrenton Freshman Tournament.

The Lady Crusaders went 3-0 in pool play, winning against Fort Zumwalt East (25-4, 25-12), Warrenton (25-15, 25-6) and Sullivan (25-20, 25-16). Then in bracket play, Helias won its semifinal match against Washington (25-6, 25-16) and then topped Liberty 25-8, 25-16 in the championship match.

Tessa Wilson led Helias with 20 kills in the tournament and Olivia Garrett and Taylor Lalk each had 18. Garrett also tallied 38 service points, Mackenzie Stegeman finished with 12 aces and 29 assists and Claire Bonnot posted a team-high 39 assists. Gracie Bernskoetter and Emily Houser had 35 and 27 digs, respectively.

Helias (18-2) will play at Battle on Tuesday.
