Kliethermes pitches gem against Lady Jays

Lady Jays take third

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Blair Oaks sophomore Makenna Kliethermes threw a perfect game Saturday in a 1-0 win against the Jefferson City Lady Jays in the first round of bracket play in the Hickman Kewpie Classic.

Klithermes struck out 12 of the 21 batters she retired in order.

Emilee Jones had two singles for Blair Oaks and scored the game's only run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Macyn Wilbers also had two singles.

Blair Oaks lost its semifinal game to Troy 3-0. Carli Buschjost, Sydney Wilde and Mackinnley Hamacher each had one single. Megan Mitchem took the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out one.

In the third-place game, Blue Springs beat Blair Oaks 7-0. Kliethermes took the loss, pitching 41/3 innings while allowing seven runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Buschjost had two singles to lead the Lady Falcons.

Blair Oaks (12-5) will play Monday at Hickman.
