PECULIAR, Mo. - Jackson Schwartz of Jefferson City captured individual honors Saturday in the large schools division at the Raymore-Peculiar Invitational.
Schwartz finished with a time of 16:50.6, more than 10 seconds ahead of runner-up Tyler Musgrave of Raymore-Peculiar.
Jefferson City finished second in the team standings with 62 points. Olathe (Kan.) East was first with 58, while Lee's Summit North was third in the 15-team event with 86.
Cole Biesemeyer, Brendan Bena and Thomas Nield were 12th through 14th, respectively, for the Jays. Ben Krause was 22nd, Jeff Dodson was 50th and Izaak Sochinski was 58th.
On the girls side, Jefferson City finished with 127 points to finish sixth among the 15 schools.
Laura Sherwood finished ninth in 21:22 to lead Jefferson City. Kayleee Payton was 12th, followed by Alivia Bopp (27th), Katie Ruth (34th), Brianne Bechtel (50th), Mira Gandhi (61st) and Hope Lewis (78th).
Blue Valley (Kan.) North was first as a team with 58 points, with Liberty North (83) and St. Joseph Central (88) rounding out the top three.
Jefferson City is back in action next Saturday at Blue Springs.
