Helias downs Blair Oaks to win volleyball crown

BUFFALO, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders won their third straight volleyball district championship Tuesday, defeating the Blair Oak Lady Falcons 25-19, 25-18 in the final of the Class 3 District 10 tournament.

Helias (32-3-2) will face District 11 champion Logan-Rogersville (31-4) in the Class 3 sectionals Saturday, which will be played at Logan-Rogersville.

Ellie Rockers had 11 kills and nine digs to lead Helias, while Regan Bruns finished with eight kills. Lexy Lamb and Abby Shepard tallied 17 and 11 assists, respectively, Bradi Berhorst had 12 digs and 10 service points and Erin Wyrick finished with five kills.

Allison Maxwell led Blair Oaks with seven kills and five blocks. Rebecca Schroeder had nine digs, Sadie Turner finished with 10 assists and Lauren Casey had a team-high six blocks.

In Tuesday's semifinal matches, Helias, the No. 1 seed, began the evening with a win in straight sets against Bolivar by scores of 25-18, 25-15.

Lamb had 13 assists, nine service points and five digs to lead the Lady Crusaders. Shepard added 12 assists and eight service points, Rockers had eight kills, six service points and six digs, Hannah Borchelt tallied six kills and Bruns finished with five kills.

In the other semifinal match, Blair Oaks, the No. 2 seed, defeated School of the Osage 25-13, 25-13.

Alexa Stegemann led the Lady Falcons with eight kills, while Lizzy Holstein had seven kills and Maxwell finished with five kills.

Jayde Peters had 16 assists, Turner added 11 assists and Casey and Paige Rackers finished with four and three blocks, respectively.

Blair Oaks ends the season with a 31-2 record.
