Lady Jays beat Pleasant Hope in eight innings

PLEASANT HOPE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays overcame a four-run deficit to beat the Pleasant Hope Lady Pirates 5-4 in eight innings Monday.

The Lady Jays were down 4-0 after three innings and tied the game with four runs in the top of the fourth. The game remained tied until Jefferson City scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, with Gabi McGinty hitting an RBI double to score Alex Gilliland.

Mychael Jett picked up the victory, pitching six innings in relief. Jett allowed two walks and three hits and finished with eight strikeouts. Megan Green pitched two-plus innings and allowed four runs on six hits with two walks and one strikeout.

McGinty led the Lady Jays at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one single and two RBI. Gilliland was 3-for-4 with two singles and two runs scored, while Hannah Clardy had one double and one RBI.

Jefferson City (15-11) will play Hickman at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the Class 4 District 9 tournament at Grain Valley.
