Blair Oaks blanks Fatima in title game

CUBA, Mo. - What started out as a scoreless game through 2 1/2 innings, Blair Oaks quickly ran away from Fatima to win 10-0 in five innings Thursday to claim the Class 3 District 9 title.

It's the first district title for the Falcons since 2012 when they defeated Fatima 11-8 in the district final.

The Falcons plated the first three runs in the third, including a two-run double from Garrett Welschmeyer.

Welschmeyer also drove in a run in the two-run fourth, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI.

To finish off the game, the Falcons plated five in the fifth, with the final run coming on a hit by pitch.

Jason Rackers pitched all five innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out six.

Ryan Paschal and Rackers each drove in two runs. Ethan Rackers went 3-for-4.

Tony Swarthout, Will Robertson, Hunter Hennier and Skyler Dickneite each had a hit for Fatima.

Blair Oaks (23-6) advances to play Monday in the sectional round at Mountain Grove (21-5). Game time has yet to be announced.

Fatima finishes with a 17-11 record.
