Michael Porter Jr. picks Washington

Former Father Tolton High School basketball star Michael Porter Jr. tweeted Friday he'll attend the University of Washington to continue his basketball career.

"Blessed to announce that I will be attending the University of Washington! #Huskies," Porter tweeted.

Porter is 247sports.org's second best college basketball recruit for 2017.

His father, Michael Porter Sr., was hired as an assistant coach for the Huskies in May. He previously was an assistant coach for the Missouri women's basketball team.

The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward had Missouri as one of his final five choices. A five-star recruit, Porter helped lead Tolton its first Class 3 state basketball title last season. Porter had 31 points and 19 rebounds in the game. Missouri was one of five finalists for Porter, along with Indiana, Virginia and Oklahoma.

He moved with his family to Seattle and will play his senior season at Nathan Hale High School under head coach Brandon Roy, a former University of Washington and NBA player.
