Five area teams are receiving attention in the preseason football Missouri Media rankings released today.
Jefferson City, Blair Oaks, School of the Osage, Eldon and California all got votes in the rankings in their respective classes.
Jefferson City begins the season ranked No. 4 in Class 6, receiving 91 total points.
C.B.C. tops the Class 6 rankings, receiving eight of the 14 first-place votes from media around the state. No. 2 Blue Springs got the top nod from four voters, while No. 6 Blue Springs South received the other first-place vote.
Blair Oaks tops the area trio in Class 3.
The Falcons enter the year ranked No. 3 in Class 3, behind No. 1 John Burroughs (13 first-place votes) and Maryville (one first-place vote).
School of the Osage is No. 9 in Class 3 with 21 points, while Eldon is just outside the top 10 with nine points.
California is among those receiving votes in the Class 2 rankings, totaling five points.
Lamar is the unanimous No. 1 choice in Class 2.
The top teams in the other classes include:
Valle Catholic, which received all of the first-place votes in Class 1.
Webb City, which got nine first-place votes in Class 4. No. 2 Kearney received the other five top votes.
Chaminade, which got 12 of the 14 first-place votes in Class 5. The other two went to Staley.
