Fall sports teams receive MSHSAA district assignments

The high school football district assignments have been posted since the spring, but MSHSAA announced the districts for the rest of the fall sports programs across Missouri on Monday for the next two seasons.

In softball, the Lady Jays were assigned to Class 4 District 9, joined by Blue Springs South, Grain Valley, Hickman, Rock Bridge and Sedalia Smith-Cotton. The Helias Lady Crusaders had a bit of a shake up in their district - now Class 3 District 9 - with only Southern Boone remaining as a district foe. They will be joined by Owensville, Salem, St. James and Sullivan.

On the other hand, Blair Oaks' district of Class 2 District 9 will have much of the same makeup as it has for the past two seasons. California, Eugene, Russellville and Versailles remain district opponents of the Lady Falcons, while New Bloomfield is new to the district. The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions will be matched with Jamestown, St. Elizabeth, Tuscumbia and Vienna in Class 1 District 5.

The Lady Jay volleyball team was assigned to Class 4 District 9 and will be rejoined by Hickman, Rock Bridge and Smith-Cotton. New to the district are Blue Springs South and Grain Valley. Helias and Blair Oaks are together in Class 3 District 10, assigned with Bolivar, Buffalo, Eldon and School of the Osage.

In Class 1 District 12, the Calvary Lutheran volleyball team will be matched with Barat Academy, Chamois, Missouri School for the Deaf, New Haven and Russellville.

In boys soccer, the Jays were assigned to Class 4 District 11 with Hickman, Rock Bridge and Smith-Cotton, while the Crusaders are in Class 3 District 9 with Camdenton, Marshfield and Rolla.

The Jefferson City girls tennis team will remain in Class 2 District 9 for the next two seasons with the same five schools: Camdenton, Lebanon, Rolla, Smith-Cotton and Waynesville. On the other hand, the Helias girls tennis team will have five new opponents in Class 1 District 9 with Bolivar, Greenwood, School of the Osage, Richland and Springfield Catholic.

The Lady Crusader golf team is making the jump from Class 1 to Class 2 for at least the next two seasons. Helias will join the Lady Jays in Class 2 District 4.

In cross country, Jefferson City is staying put in Class 4 District 4. Both Helias and Blair Oaks remain in Class 3 District 5, joined by Eldon, Southern Boone and School of the Osage. Calvary Lutheran was again assigned to Class 1 District 2.
