College Volleyball: Washburn's Maxwell honored by MIAA

TOPEKA, Kan. - Washburn junior middle hitter Allison Maxwell was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association volleyball co-hitter of the week, the league announced Monday.

Maxwell (Blair Oaks High School) finished with 41 kills and 16 total blocks in four matches Friday and Saturday at the Washburn Invitational.

Maxwell tied for a team-high 12 kills Friday in the Ichabods' 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 win against William Jewell. On Saturday, she tallied a season-high 14 kills in a 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21 win against No. 23 Central Washington.

In Saturday's 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 win against Quincy, Maxwell finished with a team-best 10 kills. She posted six blocks in each of the wins against Central Washington and Quincy.

Washburn (4-0), ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II, plays Friday and Saturday in the Skyhawks Volleyball Tournament at Durango, Colo.
