College Football: Thomas gets first INT for Truman State

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State freshman wide receiver Ben Thomas had his redshirt waived Saturday, and in his first collegiate appearance, he had an interception at defensive back in the Bulldogs' 52-7 win against Southwest Baptist.

Thomas (Blair Oaks High School) intercepted a pass from Brenden Smith at the Truman State 26-yard line late in the third quarter. Two minutes later, Truman State scored a touchdown to extend its lead to 38-7.

Thomas also recorded an assisted tackle in the win.

Redshirt senior quarterback Jaden Barr (California High School) completed 18-of-25 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown Saturday. He added six carries for 48 yards.

For the season, Barr is 73-of-116 passing for 759 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He had season-highs of 217 yards passing and three touchdowns Sept. 28 in a 63-14 win against Quincy. As for rushing, Barr has 49 carries for 187 yards and a touchdown this season.

Truman State (5-0), ranked No. 24 in this week's AFCA Division II Top 25 poll, plays Saturday at Lindenwood.
