Lincoln's Olsson receives Academic All-American honor

Lincoln men's basketball senior Grant Olsson was named to the NCAA Division II Academic All-American first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced last Tuesday.

Olsson was one of 15 players in the country named to the Academic All-America team, which features three teams of five players each.

Olsson, a physics major, is one of two players on the team with a 4.0 GPA. The other was Lubbock Christian senior Isaac Asrat, a mathematics major.

Also on the Academic All-American first team are Seton Hill junior Nathan Davis (3.95 GPA, Spanish major), Central Missouri senior Jakob Lowrance (3.97 GPA, sport management major) and St. Cloud State senior Brindley Theisen (3.95 GPA, accounting major).

Olsson is the first player in Lincoln men's basketball history to receive this honor.

Ten of the 15 players honored have at least a 3.80 GPA.

Earlier this month, Olsson was named an honorable mention on the MIAA all-conference team. During the 2018-19 season, he averaged 11.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, scoring in double figures in 18 of the Blue Tigers' 30 games.
