Renegades drop 2-0 decision to Mustangs

The Jefferson City Renegades dropped a 2-0 decision Sunday night to the St. Joseph Mustangs in MINK League action at Vivion Field.

The Mustangs won the pitcher's duel by scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings. JP Tighe had a solo home run to account for St. Joseph's run in the third. He also drove in the run for the Mustangs in the fourth.

Peyton Leeper (South Callaway High School) pitched the first six innings for the Renegades. He struck out six Mustangs.

Lane Threlkeld worked the final three innings for Jefferson City, totaling three strikeouts.

Cam Bednar went the distance to get the victory for the Mustangs. He recorded 10 strikeouts.

Paul Haupt had two hits for the Renegades, who finished with four in the contest.

The Renegades (6-7), who have dropped their last two games after posting a five-game winning streak, are off today. They are slated to resume MINK League action Tuesday night with a game at Chillicothe against the Mudcats. Game time is 7 p.m.

Jefferson City will return home Wednesday to play a non-league doubleheader against the Des Moines Peak Prospects.

The first game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
