College Track: Bena runner-up in mile run

WARRENSBURG - Drury sophomore Brendan Bena took second place in the men's mile run last Friday at the UCM Invitational.

Bena (Jefferson City High School) clocked a time of 4:26.69, a second and a half behind event winner, Noah Larsen of Central Missouri.

Bena also competed in the 800-meter run, where he finished seventh with a time of 2:03.12.

Southwest Baptist junior Drake Wilkerson (St. Elizabeth High School) took fourth place in the men's 600-yard run with a time of 1:16.02. He also helped the Bearcats to a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:34.47.

Missouri S&T freshman Jessica Rhoads (Jefferson City High School) was fifth in the women's shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 2.5 inches. She also took ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 42-5.5.

Missouri S&T sophomore Luke Allen (Calvary Lutheran High School) placed sixth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 43-0.25. He also finished 15th in the long jump (20-7).

Missouri S&T junior Daniel Miller came in 10th place in the men's weight throw with a toss of 42-1.25.

Southwest Baptist freshman Macie Halderman (Eldon High School) competed in four events for the Bearcats. She finished ninth in the women's long jump (15-6.25), 12th in the 60-meter hurdles (11.92 seconds), 13th in the shot put (31-1) and 15th in the 200-meter dash (29.28 seconds).

Southwest Baptist sophomore Rachel Holt (Jefferson City High School) placed eighth in the women's pole vault, clearing a height of 9-10.
