College Baseball: Hirschvogel homers in debut for Bluejays

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Westminster freshman designated hitter Hayden Hirschvogel hit a solo home run in his collegiate debut Sunday as the Bluejays suffered a 15-11 loss to University of the Ozarks.

Hirschvogel (Jefferson City High School) went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, adding a single. His home run in the fourth inning extended Westminster's lead to 10-6.

Sophomore right fielder Zach Stiles (Helias High School) went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles for the Bluejays.

In the second game of the doubleheader, a 12-8 Westminster loss, Stiles scored three runs and added one RBI, while Hirschvogel against finished 2-for-5 at the plate.

Freshman second baseman Michael Skinner (Jefferson City High School) drove in a run and freshman left fielder Tyler Bise (Jefferson City High School) scored a run in the loss.

Sophomore starting pitcher Skyler Dickneite (Fatima High School) struck out five batters in four innings and received a no-decision.

Westminster (0-3) is off until March 2 when it hosts Eureka.
