Women's Basketball: Rhine records ninth double-double of season

DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake redshirt junior forward Sara Rhine finished with 25 points and a game-high 11 rebounds Sunday in the Bulldogs' 94-66 win against Southern Illinois.

Rhine (Eldon High School) shot 5-of-9 from the floor and made 15-of-17 free throws, the most made free throws in a single game by a Drake player since the 2007-08 season.

Rhine recorded her ninth double-double of the season, and has had three in Drake's last three games. In 21 games this season, Rhine leads the Bulldogs with 19.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Rhine ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference in both categories, and her scoring average ranks 29th in NCAA Division I. Her 59.1 percent shooting from the field leads the conference and ranks 17th in the nation.

Southern Illinois junior forward Nicole Martin (Jefferson City High School) scored nine points in the loss to Drake.

In 19 games, Martin leads the Salukis with 14.8 points per game and is second with 6.8 rebounds per contest. She ranks sixth in the MVC in scoring and seventh in rebounding, and her 54.0 shooting percentage is second only to Rhine.

Drake (16-5), which received votes in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll, plays Friday at Valparaiso.

Southern Illinois (10-10) hosts Missouri State on Friday.
