College Baseball: Hirschvogel has four RBI, Kirkweg tosses complete game

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Westminster freshmen Hayden Hirschvogel and Mason Kirkweg shined Wednesday in the Blue Jays' doubleheader sweep of Blackburn.

Hirschvogel (Jefferson City High School) went 3-for-3 with four RBI and four runs scored in a 25-5 win in Game 1. He had two RBI singles and a two-run triple.

Freshman Michael Skinner (Jefferson City High School) went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI.

Freshman Drew Bax (Fatima High School) scored two runs, while freshman Tyler Bise (Jefferson City High School) had a single and an RBI. Freshman Taylor Dobbins (Versailles High School) added an RBI and freshman Jacob Adrian (Eugene High School) had a single.

Kirkweg (Eugene High School) struck out eight batters in nine innings in Game 2 for a 10-1 complete-game victory. He allowed one run on six hits and walked two batters to improve to 3-2.

Skinner drove in a run and Bax had a single and a run in the win.

Westminster (11-10) hosts MacMurray on Saturday.
