Lincoln track and field wins 11 events at Mizzou Spring Open

COLUMBIA - The Lincoln men's and women's track and field teams combined for 11 first-place finishes last Saturday in the Mizzou Spring Open at Walton Stadium.

The men accounted for six of those wins, as both Javan Gray and Ryan Brown were double-winners for the Blue Tigers.

Gray won the 100-meter dash in 10.41 seconds - edging Missouri's Nylo Clarke by less than one-hundredth of a second - and added a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 20.77 seconds.

Brown jumped 24 feet, 9.25 inches to win the long jump and also posted a distance of 52-6 to win the triple jump.

Lincoln had a third double-winner on the women's side with Rene Medley.

Medley gave the Blue Tigers a title sweep in the 100 and 200, posting winning times of 11.42 seconds and 23.56 seconds, respectively.

Lincoln also swept wins in the four relay events.

Tyrese Halls, Raymone Campbell, Gray and Ouekie Wright posted a time of 40.10 seconds in the men's 4x100-meter relay.

Halls, Mohammed Kouyate, Wright and Coy Spence clocked a time of 3:14.65 in the men's 4x400-meter relay.

Christine Moss, Medley, Segale Brown and Shaian Vandenburg finished with a time of 45.01 seconds in the women's 4x100.

Dylann Core, Shanice Clarke, Kissi-Ann Brown and Moss had a time of 3:41.45 in the women's 4x400.

Renea Ambersley added a first-place finished in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.34 seconds.

In addition to the six wins, the Lincoln men had six second-place finishes.

Kizan David was runner-up to Brown in both jumping events, posting distances of 24-3 in the long jump and 49-9 in the triple jump. Brown also took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.57 seconds.

Campbell took second in the 200 with a time of 20.90 seconds, while Kouyate was second in the 400 in 47.82 seconds. Spence also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 53.03 seconds.

The Lincoln women had a pair of second-place finishes. Moss posted a runner-up time of 53.86 seconds in the 400 and Clarke took second in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.98.

Missouri sophomore Jason Edwards (School of the Osage High School) set three personal-bests last Saturday, starting with a win in the men's javelin with a throw of 187-8.

Edwards also took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 22-6.25 and placed ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.16 seconds.

Missouri redshirt senior Will Fife (Helias High School) came in second place in the men's discus with a throw of 168-3.

Columbia College freshman Harrison Frank (Russellville High School) took seventh place in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.84.

Missouri Baptist junior Brian Jordan (School of the Osage High School) placed 15th in the men's 800 (2:40.34) and finished 22nd in the 1,500-meter run (5:12.73).

Columbia College freshman Halie Moeller (Fatima High School) took sixth place in the women's 400 (1:02.80) and also 32nd in the 200 (28.61 seconds). Freshman Brianna Haller (Fatima High School) came in ninth place in the women's 1,500 with a time of 4:52.09 for the Cougars.

Missouri Baptist senior Andrea Hughes (Jefferson City High School) took seventh place in the women's shot put (39-10.75) and eighth place in the discus (116-11).

Missouri State freshman Emily Yaeger (Blair Oaks High School) helped the Lady Bears to a seventh-place finish in the women's 4x400 with a time of 4:15.58. She also finished 14th in the 800 in 2:25.12.

William Jewell junior Lexie Stull (Jefferson City High School) finished 13th in the women's triple jump (34-9.5) and 36th in the 200 (29.01 seconds).

Missouri freshman Abby Hake (Helias High School) finished 19th in the 1,500 with a time of 5:08.31.
