College Softball: Washington has six hits in DH

FULTON - Westminster junior designated player Madison Washington went 6-for-8 in a doubleheader April 2 against Greenville.

Washington (Jefferson City High School) went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run home run, in the Blue Jays' 9-5 loss in Game 1.

In Game 2, Washington also went 3-for-4 with an RBI double in an 8-5 loss.

Freshman Hannah Schroeder (Blair Oaks High School) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and two runs scored in Game 1, while junior Hannah Hirschvogel (Jefferson City High School) and sophomore Brooklyn Bledsoe (Eldon High School) each went 1-for-2 with a single.

In Game 2, Schroeder had a single and a run scored.

This season, Washington is batting .615 (16-for-26) with 12 RBI and five doubles. The home run was her first of the year.

Schroeder is hitting .358 (19-for-53) with a team-best 17 runs scored and nine RBI to go with six extra-base hits, while Bledsoe has a .303 batting average (10-for-33) with seven runs scored and five RBI. Hirschvogel is hitting .256 (10-for-39) with five runs scored and four RBI.

Westminster (6-12) hosts a doubleheader today against MacMurray.
