College Baseball: Robertson, Mantle combine for four RBI

OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton sophomore Will Robertson and junior Ryan Mantle combined for five hits and four RBI last Thursday in the Bluejays' 5-3 win against California.

Robertson (Fatima High School) went 3-for-4 with two run scored and an RBI single in the fifth inning.

Mantle (Linn High School) was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the fifth that broke a 3-all tie.

This season, Robertson leads Creighton with a .333 batting average (66-for-198) with team-highs of 59 RBI - which ranks 29th in NCAA Division I - and 12 home runs to go with 43 runs scored. He also leads the Bluejays with 17 doubles and a .641 slugging percentage.

Mantle had a strong second half of the season for the Bluejays, improving his batting average from .217 on April 8 to .291 by the end of the regular season, going 39-for-134 and collecting a hit in 15 of his last 17 games of the season. He also drove in 22 runs and scored 26 times.

Creighton (34-16), which did not qualify for the four-team Big East Tournament, will await the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field Monday.
