WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Central Missouri junior Luke Mercer pitched 1 scoreless innings and the Mules won the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament on Sunday with a 2-1 walk-off win against Emporia State.
Mercer (Tipton High School) picked up the win in relief. He faced just four batters and finished with two strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
In 19 appearances this spring, Mercer has pitched 21 innings and has 26 strikeouts with just five walks. He lowered his ERA to 2.14 in Sunday's win.
Central Missouri (37-15), which won the MIAA Tournament for the 22nd time in program history, earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
